Student Assessment Reports Letter October 2016

Letter from Headteacher

Dear Parent

As we draw near to the end of the term, I would like to extend my best wishes to you and your family for the summer holiday period. It has been a busy few months at the McAuley School and I am sure the students are very much looking forward to a well-deserved break. In the last few weeks alone our students have taken part in a number of school trips including our annual Lourdes Pilgrimage, the Anglesey and Berlin trips as well as the Orchestral Course, which culminated in a memorable concert. All of this is but a flavour of our activities during this last term and more details of the experiences that our students have enjoyed can be found on the website.

To support the safety of the 1700 young people and 200 staff who arrive and leave the school site each day access to cars driven by parents/carers is prohibited between the hours of 8am-9.30am and 3pm-4.30pm.
The vast majority of parents/carers support this aspect of school operations and do not access any of the school sites between these times however a minority still drive onto site, creating safety and control issues for students and staff.

Message from Governors

The Governors wish to advise that with effect from 31st May 2016 Mrs Catherine Brown has left her post as Headteacher.  We wish to record our appreciation of Mrs Brown’s contribution to the school since September 2011, and her drive and commitment to school improvement.

IMPORTANT NOTICE - Changes to Site Access Arrangements

As part of the continual review of safety, security and safeguarding changes have been made to how access is gained to the school on both the lower and upper site. These changes mean that specific gates will by default be closed and will only open at specified times during the school day, at which point additional duty staff will be present. These improvements will make access to the sites more restricted and all parents, visitors etc will be directed to the main entrances by clearer signage.

Our review process is continual and should further changes be identified as beneficial further notices will be placed here.
