Update on Government Plan to Rebuild

You may have seen or heard the statement from the Prime Minister last Sunday. He explained that subject to the ‘five tests’ being met primary schools may re-open for YR, Y1 and Y6 from the 1st June.

At 10pm on Monday we received an update from the Department for Education explaining that a similar approach was expected for secondary age students focussing on Y10 and Y12. Both these groups will be facing public exams next year. The Government is hoping that these year groups will have some ‘face-to-face contact’ with school starting in the month of June.

As you already know we have been planning for this eventuality and have been actively considering the logistical and operational challenges as well as the possible solutions. We have been promised further guidance over the next few weeks covering a range of topics and expect that this will provide answers to some of our questions.

Please be assured. We want to re-open the school as soon as possible and McAuley will only make release detail about increasing face-to-face contact when we can assure you that it can be done safely for pupils, staff and our wider community.

As the situation and guidance continues to change we will keep you up to date.  We ask you to keep an eye on our social media accounts and the school website.

Thank you for your continued patience, cooperation and support in this important matter.

Keep safe and well
